Cleaning for Unexpected Visitors

This isn’t really a cleaning guide, in fact it’s far from cleaning, but we have all had one of those days where everything is just chaos and all of a sudden there’s an unexpected phone call and an “I’ll be there in 10 minutes?”
Grab a rubbish bag, quickly nip room to room and gather all the rubbish, throw a squirt of toilet cleaner in the loo as you pass.

Take a washing basket and grab all clothes off the floors, beds etc

Have another basket for ‘junk’, throw in anything that’s on the floor or not where it should be.  You can start putting them away at the end if you have time but for now just stash it in a closet.

Fill the sink up, add lots of bubbles and pile in the dishes.

Wipe down the bench and the dinner table

Vacuum the worst parts of the floor

Quickly go back and give the toilet a brief scrub, baby wipes from the $2 shop are a great thing to use to wipe the seat clean.

Leave a pile of kids toys on the floor, the trick is to make it look like you haven’t made an effort to clean, make sure you are sitting  down doing nothing when your guest arrives and exclaim “sorry about the state off the house, I haven’t started cleaning yet!”

*Never do this unless it is absolutely necessary, hiding stuff in cupboards is not cleaning and will only make it harder for you to do your real cleaning.
